Cyrus

Would you like to read James McNaught’s novel Sinking Sand”? click here: Sinking Sand
(The views expressed in this blog are my own and should not be taken as inspired in any way.)
2 Chronicles 36:22–23, “Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.”

Even in the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem the Lord remained faithful to Israel. Before they went away the Lord made sure that a copy of the Book of the Law was discovered so that Israel went into Exile with that Book of the Law. They had time and incentive to study that book so that whey they returned they had a much deeper understanding of what was required by the Lord’s people as they lived in the Land that He first promised them and then gave them. After the Land had its rest and was ready to be productive again, the Lord sent Judah back to the Promised Land and gave them another chance to remain faithful to the contract that they had agreed to keep.
