“Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee. Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him: Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.”
The Lord punished the world for the sin of the world. He saved Noah and his family and made sure that there was sufficient resources for them to re-establish a complete life after the Flood was over. God gave them time to rest and recover from the trauma of the Flood and losing their families and everything that they knew. However, it was now time for them get on with their lives so God told them to go out of the ark and fill the earth again. Adam and Eve were told to fill the earth and now God’s plan had not changed. Sin may have caused extreme hardship and eventual death for sinners but God did not change and His plan was the same. It is good for us to remember that we will face trials, hardship and traumas and we will need to take time to recover and allow our souls to repair but at some stage we will have to get on with our lives. Noah’s life would never be the same as it was before the Flood. There would always be empty places at the table of his heart and he would never be able to return to his childhood home. However, he had to get on with the life that God had given and do the work that God had given him to do.
